Summary: The human world has lived with an undercurrent of terror since the rise of the Demon King Kyuubi, who’s said to be able to level mountains and raise tsunamis with a single flick of a tail – a force as unstoppable as a natural disaster. None have seen the demon and lived to tell the tale, but rumours of his monstrous appearance circulate all over the globe.

Thirteen-year-old Uzumaki Naruto decides to rid the world of Kyuubi once and for all, but his journey seems doomed from the start as he’s ambushed by a pair of mist demon brothers… if it hadn’t been for the inadvertent and brutal intervention of a red-headed woman named Youko.

In a burst of dangerous inspiration, Naruto nags the woman to teach him, bragging his intentions up, down and sideways… not knowing that Youko is demonically amused by the idea of teaching someone whose eventual goal is her ultimate demise.

“Y-youko-san?” Naruto stuttered, staring in shock.

Instead of a red-headed woman, the person in front of him was blonde and male. His hair was about the same length as Youko’s but was parted differently in order to showcase the scar that ran through an eyebrow.

Confused, Naruto reached out to poke the man in the chest and was whacked over the head for his trouble.

"Ow! What the hell?! Why are you a guy?!" Naruto yelled. Though Youko's frame had been more muscled than a regular woman's, she'd definitely been female last night.

“Idiot. We’ll start with the art of disguise.”

Naruto rubbed his head and winced. “Disguise?”

Youko’s voice, deeper now than it was, continued without acknowledging Naruto’s confusion. “If you’re going travel with me, you’re going to have to keep up. The first thing you’ll have to learn is how to be someone else.”

“Why?”

Youko smirked. “Why hide in the shadows, when it’s much more fun to hide in plain sight?”
