Okay, in case I get stumped on that bike or his leg and this pic never makes it out of scraps, I'm gonna say this now:

Escpecially if you like detective/mystery novels/shows. It's like a combination of CSI and Dead Zone , except where CSI focuses more on forensics, Eiji focuses more on profiling and psychology. The Dead Zone aspect of it comes from Eiji's ability to pick up images and impressions left on objects. It's a really cool mix of science and supernatural, expecially in chapter 10 when the supernatural bent really kicks in. I got chills. XD Well, no, "chills" is too violent a word. More like I was cold... and "oooOOOOoooo"ing.

The art isn't as pretty or flowery but I'm truly impressed with the plot. For a mystery-type manga it's really satisfying when the killer isn't obvious five pages into the chapter (or maybe I'm just dumb). XD And yet they give you enough information to form your own suspicions. It shows careful planning. No one is introduced who isn't important, even though they might seem insignificant. You gotta keep a careful eye on these characters or they'll take you by surprise three chapters later.

What I really like about it is that it's an optimistic manga overall. People get back up after falling into ruts. No one wallows in angst for very long. Yeah, humans sorta suck, but apparently we do have some redeeming qualities.

Eiji's such an interesting character (rough around the edges tho)... and he's young, so it's not one of those stories with a hard-boiled, jaded private detective who glares and grunts and makes out with a different woman every novel. The dark side of Eiji's ordinary world (when he's not helping the police solve cases) deals more with gang wars than mafia bosses... most of the time, anyway.

Bad points: Eiji's a bit of a hentai. XD Not in the funny, "please have my child" kind of way. More in the crude, high-school boy, "I watch porn" kind of way. Beware of shots of womens' underwear. Luckily there's a strong female lead who's a level-headed, independent, feisty 25 year old cop, so no air-headed high school girl female lead.

Also, a few disturbing images of dead bodies, but it's not too bad. Just... most of the victims are female, which sorta pisses me off, but I suppose it's easier to go after girls... -_-

Anyway, I've ranted long enough. If you like the mystery genre, go read!
